Cyber Debate

Abortion Should Be Legal In B.C.

The abortion debate has been a huge problem for years all across the world. I believe that abortion should be legal as long as it is not done after the first 4 months, or as a form of birth control. If a woman is raped, too young, or just not capable ( maturity, financially ) she should have the option available. Young women who are still attending school can seriously harm their futures by becoming pregnant too early in their lives, especially if they do not have adequette support behind them.

5 Reasons To Turn Down A Marriage Proposal -Writing Prompts-

Getting married is one of the most magical moments in a person's life. You're spending the rest of your life with that one person, good or bad, never knowing what's to come. Unfortunately, not every prince finds their princess the first time around. There are five qualities that must not be overlooked before accepting that fateful question:
  1. Stability - Not financially speaking, after all, money cannot buy happiness. Stability within the home, and relationship. If your partner cannot get through a day of work without calling you crying just to hear your voice, you may have other problems.
  2. Basic Hygiene - No one wants to leave the house in the morning, thinking to yourself whether or not your spouse has gelled their hair that day, not to mention that sour smell of rancid body odor and fuzzy teeth and tongue.
  3. Honesty - Although everyone would like to place their trust in the hands of their partner. Unfortunately finding the back alley of open communication can sometimes be a challenge. When your lactose intolerant fiance begins taking day long trips to a cheese factory for the 'great samples' you know you should keep a look out.
  4. A Home - Outside of his mother's, friend's, roommate's etc.
  5. Career - Preferably one that has benefits other than all the leftover apple pies and french fries you can grab at the end of the night. This also shows responsibility and maturity, both of which are desired qualities in any husband or wife.

Although true love is supposed to conquer all, in my expert opinion turning a blind eye to any or all of these five instances, will lead to the beginings of a rocky road, and not the yummy chocolate kind.

5 Reasons To Visit The Philippines

The south-east Asian country of the Philippines is unfortunately one of the most over looked. Here are my top 3 reasons to visit this beautiful country.

1. Volcanoes
- The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7000 islands, with the majority of these being of volcanic origin. There are 37 volcanoes, 18 of them are still active. The three most known are all located on the Northern island of Luzon, Mount Pinatubo, Mount Mayon and the Taal volcano. The mass number of volcanoes, results in large mineral deposits in the country, as well as rare rock formations from the pyroclastic flow.

2. Animals
- The Philippines is home to many tropical animals such as the orange clown fish, Philippine Eagle, whale sharks, varanus, other small lizards, green sea turtles, fruit bat, flying fox, flying lemur, water buffalo's, and the smallest monkey in the world, the Tarsier.

3. Coral & Beaches
- One of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines is the pristine area of Palawan, also Boracay. Both of these beaches have miles of white sand, and clear blue green waters. Everyone from families to teenage party goers can find something for them at the Filipino beaches.

The Doors

The American rock band, The Doors, was formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. Headed by the lead singer Jim Morrison, the band also consisted of keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. The band is well known for it's phychedelic, and acid rock styling. Lead singer Jim, was plagued with controversy surrounding his drug use, and questionable stage persona, believed to be brought on by difficult childhood. Some of their most famous works include Light My Fire, The End, People Are Strange, Hello I Love You, Riders Of The Storm, Love Me Two Times, and Break On Through. The Doors recieved both great success, as well as many enemies in the span of their success.

A Review On Spanx Shape Wear

Women across the globe, along with myself are rejoicing for one of this centuries most brilliant and innovative creations, Spanx. Spanx Body Shape wear is a brand of footless tights created by American Sara Blakely to lift, suck, tighten, and create a 'faux-flawless' figure. To anyone who has ever worked tirelessly to prefect their body, and still is taunted by less than smooth final results, breathe a sigh of relief. A quality undergarment needs to have the following qualities: the proper colours, comfort, the lack of panty anti-circulatory issues, and it must be fashionable, all of which the Spanx company has perfected. Although this product may sound perfect, the product does have a few flaws. One of them being the price, which for a pair of underwear is quite steep, with a pair of Power Panties going for the pocket punching price of $30.00 USD. Another drawback speaks specifically to Canadian consumers. Trying to find and purchase these fabulous underwear can put somewhat of a skidmark on your day.

Superpowers

If I had the ability to have any superpower ever invented, it would have to be the powers of Phoenix, of the X-Men. Although I would make sure I have complete power and control over my actions as opposed to her sudden bursts of untamed psycic power. She has the ability to fly, mind read, and also super strength controlled by her mind. Therefore as opposed to making a decision the choice of Phoenix would rid myself of a very difficult situation. Phoenix compacts the most desireable traits of a super hero, or villian into one person, and does it with beauty, grace, and intelligence.

Synthesis - 'The Lottery' and 'Perils of Indifference'

In the two stories 'The Lottery', and 'Perils of Indifference' there are many connections with the content and ideas.
'The Lottery' tells the story of a community of seemingly normal people who have a bizarre annual event. Using chance to determine who in the community is to die, for the sole purpose of keeping the tradition alive. A villager is chosen at random, using a lottery, and stoned to death regardless of innocence, and love of others for the person. This is considered normal and logical, the entire community follows through because it is what has been done for years, "no one liked to upset even as much tradition as was represented by the black box."
The second article "Perils of Indifference' makes reference to wars and their victims and heroes. For example, during Nazi Germany, many German people did not actually have a hatred for Jewish people, but merely went along with the injustices because it was what the rest of the country had said was right. Much like in 'The Lottery' family and friends don't object no matter how wrong they might think it is. In this speech, the author speaks of nations providing tremendous amounts of support after the atrocities had already taken place, but he also makes a note of the fact that some of the events could have been avoided. "Wehrmacht could not have conducted its invasion of France without oil obtained from American sources."
These two pieces also connect to actual social injustice in the world today. Examples are shown anywhere from the KKK, to bullying in schools. Singling out others to stay within the social 'norm' is a common occurrence unless people take a stand. Whether that be by being the rescuer, or even trying to look forward to see what outcomes could follow and taking preventative measures.

I don't believe I could ever go along with something so unjust as I am now. Because I grew up in today's society, where these actions are so blatantly wrong, I cannot say I wouldn't have acted the same way as the people in these stories during their time. Although if ever faced with a situation such as these, or even one less severe, I would deal with it morally, and take a stand as opposed to watching, or aiding the abusers.
